Holy Innocents' Catholic Primary School

Mental health

At Holy Innocents, we are dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, providing resources, and fostering a compassionate space for individuals to learn, share, and heal. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and everyone deserves access to the support and care they need to thrive.

Whether you're seeking guidance, coping strategies, or simply a safe space to explore your feelings, our website offers a variety of tools and resources to help you on your journey. From expert advice to personal stories, we aim to reduce stigma and empower individuals to prioritise their mental well-being.

We understand that our families will go through many different and difficult times whilst at our school as parents and children. We do our best to keep up with all of the new and local information to help you to know where to get support and guide others. As teachers, support staff and SLT we will all work as a team to support you though these times.

Support in school

We have a dedicated Listening Ear service which are in every class, where students can confidentially share their concerns with their teachers and in class support staff. Our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and Mental Health Champions—students trained alongside mental health professionals—are always on hand to provide support both in and outside the classroom. These champions keep a watchful eye on students, offering help on the playground, in class, and even out of school.

In addition, our regular check-ins in class help us monitor and support students’ well-being, while our RHSE curriculum equips them with the tools to navigate difficult emotions, conversations, and situations. We also host events, classes, and fundraising activities to raise awareness about mental health and teach students how to support themselves and their peers.

At Holy Innocents, we are always evolving and improving our approach to mental health because we know how vital it is for our students to feel heard, understood, and supported.
