Mental Health & Well-being
Here at Holy Innocents, we value the well-being of those in our school community. We strive to foster an inclusive learning environment that acknowledges and supports the mental health & well-being of pupils and staff.
We have ‘Listening Ear’ throughout the school which enables children to speak to trained members of staff regarding anything that is troubling them. The children are encouraged to share their feelings with their friends and trusted adults. There are nurture groups set up to support children’s social and emotional well-being. These sessions have a positive effect on the children and school as a whole.
Our weekly RSHE lessons always feature elements of well-being and the children are taught vocabulary to help them communicate what they are feeling. We believe that all feelings are valid and there are no “bad” feelings. We teach children ways to process their emotions and make positive steps to maintain a healthy mind.
Please speak to the class teacher if you are concerned about your child's mental health, well-being or behaviour. As a school, we are here to support you and your child.

Staff well-being
The well-being of our staff is paramount to a healthy working environment. Work-load is reviewed termly to ensure staff have a good work-life balance. We have Well-Being staff meetings where staff our encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings about the workplace and ways in which we can improve well-being are shared. These meetings are optional as we believe well-being is individual and looks different for every person. Staff socials are also encouraged to promote good relationships between staff members.
